Tee Apart — Privacy policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

Tee Apart is an iPhone app for golf matches between friends, made by Green Orion Pte. Ltd., Singapore ("we"). This page says what the app collects, who can see it, and what you can do about it. Questions: privacy@greenorion.net.

What we collect, and why

Your account. You sign in with Apple. Apple gives us a user id and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address. Firebase Authentication (a Google service) keeps them so you can sign in. Your email address is never shown to other players; your name is.

Your profile. Your display name, your handicap index or GHIN number, your home course, and the date you joined. Any signed-in Tee Apart player who has your user id — an opponent or a friend — can see them, so matches can be set up and scored.

Your golf. The rounds you enter (course, tees, date, the score on each hole, your handicap index on the day), the matches you play (the players, the format, the deadline) and your friends in the app. A round is seen by you; by the players of every match it was part of, also after the match ends; and by your friends when it is open to challenges. A round you post is open unless you switch that off when you post it; a round you play in a match is open, except in Foursomes. A match is seen by its players and the people invited to it.

Invites. When you invite someone, the contact details you give are stored with the invite so you can see whom you invited: the email address you type, or — when you pick a contact — that contact's first phone number and first email address. Only you and whoever accepts the invite with its link or code (normally the person you invited) can read them. Tee Apart reads only the one contact you pick, never your address book. The invitation itself goes out through your own Mail, Messages, WhatsApp or share sheet; we send nothing. Its link opens the app, or, where the app is not installed, a page on greenorion.net that explains how to get it. The invite is named in the part of the link after the # sign, which a browser does not send to the website: the page reads it in the browser and looks nothing up.

Course play counts. How many rounds have been played at each course: a number, with no names attached.

What stays on your phone

Location. While a hole map is open, the app uses your location to show the distance to the green. It is not sent to us or stored, and the app never asks for it in the background.

The app's copy. The app keeps your rounds, scores and matches on the phone so you can score without signal; they reach our servers when there is signal. Your rules-quiz progress is kept on the phone only. Signing out deletes the app's copy, your quiz progress, and its cache of what you last viewed (rounds, matches, profiles, friends and invites).

What we do not do

No advertising, no analytics, no tracking across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

Who processes it for us

Data is encrypted on its way to these services and stored encrypted. Firestore security rules decide who may read each record, as described above.

How long we keep it, and your choices

We keep your data while you have an account. In the app you can change your name, home course, handicap index or GHIN number (Profile), open a posted round to challenges or close it while no match holds it (Profile → Rounds), delete any round that no match holds, sign out, and delete your account.

Deleting your account: Profile → Delete account. Once you confirm, and confirm with Apple, Tee Apart deletes your sign-in, replaces your profile (name, handicap index or GHIN number, home course) with "Former player", and deletes your rounds that no match holds, your friendships, the invites you sent, and the address on invites you accepted. It cancels the matches you are in that are not finished, stops using your Apple ID (we revoke it with Apple), and clears the phone. Rounds that a match holds — a finished match, or one the deletion cancels — are kept with their scores for the other players, without your name: they show "Former player", and the internal user id they keep no longer leads to anything about you. The deletion happens at once. If it is interrupted, the app offers to finish it when you next open it; if you do not, we finish it within two weeks. Google then removes the data from Firebase's backups within 180 days.

To correct something, to ask what we hold about you, or to delete your account without the app, write to privacy@greenorion.net and give the email address shown on your Profile in the app (with Apple's Hide My Email it ends in @privaterelay.appleid.com). We answer, and delete what you ask us to, within 30 days.

We handle personal data under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012. Tee Apart is not meant for children under 13.
